Young Evaluators

Funding from the Ireland Funds in 2023 allowed us to develop this exciting project with young people where they learn how to be evaluators - working with us to show the impact of our work and why it is important to young people. Their input was crucial in evaluating our programmes in 2023 and 2024. Young people are central to all of our work so it makes sense for them to be at the centre of evaluating it too. Peer evaluators bring new insights and perspectives on what is important in our work, what is working, and why.
A new grant from the National Lottery Community Fund (Awards for All) in early 2025 is allowing us to recruit and train a new cohort of young evaluators and two highly skilled volunteers - Professor Tony Gallagher and Anoosha Ghana - are working with our staff team to support their training and development. Support from the Rank Foundation has given us a new team member, Kerry, who focuses on data and evaluation and through their Profit for Good programme, we are developing this idea further.
We will be training these young people to a level where we can involve them in helping evaluate the work of other charities, and we will be paying them for their time and expertise. Stay tuned for exciting updates on this project!
